The R4i Gold 3DS Plus was the suggested cart until at least the pandemic hit. That's not a big deal anyway, since that doesn't break the game or anything unless you are playing Picture Perfect Hair Salon. DSi-Enhanced features will not work, such as WPA security Wi-Fi, 16MB of RAM, or the camera. They all work fine, nothing major to look for-no lags from what I see.

You can consider the Ace3DS+ clones to be a cheaper R4i Gold 3DS Plus but without RTS. This cart also runs Wood R4, which is how it gets all its robust compatibility in the first place. The R4i Gold 3DS Plus, the other cartridge that the pinned message tells you to get, is out of stock and will likely stay that way. This means that pretty much whatever you throw at this cartridge should work as long as you're using the kernel linked above. Most people have reported this Ace3DS+ working on the latest 3DS system software, and I can vouch for that. Personally, I'd rather use the emulators that you can install to your 3DS or DSi with CFW for the sake of better performance. But if that is something you like, then go ahead and enjoy yourself.
